Relationship Between Sociology and Political Science   


Political Science and Sociology are very closely related.Political Science deals with the political activities of man. It studies social groups organised under the state while the Sociology deals with the social groups as a whole .It studies all the issues which are related to the society.

Both the sciences are mutually helpful. In fact, political activity is only a part of social activity. Thus political science appears to be a branch of sociology. In fact, political activi­ties will have no meaning outside the social context. Politics is after all the reflection of society.Morover,Political science is also equally important for Sociology as it gives sociology facts about the organisation and functions of the state and government. Political science derives from sociology a knowledge of the origin of the political authority.
This make it clear that without one the other can not be studied, there is a need for cooperation between the two sciences.Franklin H Giddings-"All political scholars are sociologists and all sociologists are political scholars" because of the intimate relation between the two sciences.
